As the LPDA (Log-periodic dipole antenna) is very demanding for space and too difficult to build for beginners, we erected the long wire (LW) antenna as a demonstration of a simple antenna for basic experiments in amateur radio. This is the rear pole on the Q-club building roof.

The height of the front pole is 6 m. The lenght of the antenna is about 40 m including the lead-in wire and it is made of 3 mm copper wire.

The lead-in wire runs to the ground floor, into the Q-club director`s office.

By the window it is an antenna-connecting board to which the grounding, LPDA and now also LW are connected.

First we built a Crystal Radio set on a experimental board. "How it comes, it works without a battery?", Jenda wonders.

First we connected the antenna directly to the tuning circuit. For the second time we connected it through the lead-in coil with several wire turns, and it caused that the selectivity was significantly increased.
