In 1872, Strauss obtained a letter from the tailor Jacob Davise from Nevada. Davis was one of his regular costumers: he took rolls of ”jeans – material ” for his own business. In his letter David mentioned interesting ”supplement” the workers trousers kited from this fast cloth: he had several studs fastened up on them, because the pockets were not enough fast without them to carry heavy specimens of stones. The same way he fastened up so down part of the fly provided with cups.
Davis had not enough money to be able to have this trousers patented. For that he suggested Straus to pay this needed sum of money and after it, they could divide with a profit later. Straus this offer accepted. The patent was given 20 May 1873 it is official ” born” of blue jeans.
Contrary it the first jeans were in two kinds: Indigo – blue one from ” kepr ”[cloth with structure creating oblique rows] and from brown cotton canvas. However, on contrary from ” kepr ” the canvas has never became soft and pleasant and so the jeans made from it were put away from sale successively.
Straus practical blue jeans were accepted by fashion industrial successively too. In 1935 Levi’s ladies jeans were performed first. Jeans from Calvin Klein became during a time so popular that they in a half of 70ies brought the profit of 12,5 millions weekly!

The jeans soon became the international phenomena and the picture of American culture. They have been popular until these days, even the original model, which is marked Levi Strauss Co`s Original Riveted 501 range, with buttonfly; it means jeans with studs and a fly on buttons. It is nearly strange, how many people, who have been forming their personal image, their personality heavily, put on this the largest uniform of ”army ” of world.
