![]() With suspension and wistfully expected national premiere of the unusual free-time-bike took place in front of the Q-club, on Tuesday 18th 1999 at 7 p.m. (summer GMT). |
The main design engineer and constructor of the Crazy Bikes project – M.Sc. Ondrej Stas tested the riding quality of his creation called Crazy Bike Mk.1. He had to show a great position of personal bravery. This bike is an unbelievable mixture of the velocipedes Ukraine, Velamos, Eska and a few more, that cannot be identified. “I have such view, as if I was horseriding!”, sad Mr. Stas after coming back from his journey across Rynecek. While the surprised bystanders were hanging around he was circling on the asphalt and the grass. Such feeling might have had the first cyclists, when they first tested their rattle-traps. |

The first piece before its finishing.
The drag-chain gearing and the handle-bars clamp still have to be installed.

Shaking down is not very easy, for the first time the wall helped.

Will you guess what is Crazy Bike Mk.1 made of?
The frame of a women’s bike was turned “bottom up”,
the clamps and other different parts
are cut out of a few other bikes and welded.
You can see Dalibor riding.

Small and tall Tomas on a small and
big bicycle are circling round Q-club.

Ondrej´s girlfriend also couldn’t bear it up.

I have to try it, too, says the author of this lines
shortly before he fell down and stubbed his knee.
As a good clown he got on again and did another circle.

Is it going to be possible to buy the crazy bikes in shops?
Who knows. So far it is the matter of a domestic or club creativity.

The residents from the neighbourhood started to bring their old and often unusable
bicycles or handle-bars. Everything comes in handy for making other pieces of Crazy Bikes.
Even you can test them on our actions for the public “Sunday in Q-club” (every Sunday
from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.).

David also helped with the creation. As unemployed he had something to do
for a while and at the same time he saw a lot of good amusement.
Even you can drive the Crazy Bikes - on our actions
for the public “Sunday in Q-club” from
2 p.m. till 8 p.m.
